VOLUNTEER

The International Institute greatly needs volunteers to help us welcome new arrival families. Please visit our volunteer page to sign up.

Volunteers are needed for the following:

Airport Pickups:

These volunteers will travel with IISTL caseworkers to welcome new arrivals to St. Louis. They need to be flexible with their time and undergo an orientation and background check.

Home Setup:

These volunteers will work to set up homes for new arrivals above and beyond what is required by contract. These volunteers will help families find additional furniture or other items needed to make the family feel welcomed and at home, including decorating, hanging “welcome to St. Louis” signs, and more. These volunteers will need to go through an orientation and a background check.

Donation Drives:

Volunteers are needed to sort donated items during scheduled donation drives. These volunteers can get an orientation on the day of the event and do not need to complete a background check.

Want to learn more? Attend a volunteer orientation.

This orientation is open to current and potential volunteers to provide the knowledge to confidently serve our refugee and immigrant families. This is a chance to learn about the programs that the Institute offers clients and how you can get involved.

If you have already been a volunteer, this orientation is still helpful to learn about the current urgent needs, and hear about a variety of programs across the Institute, including one you may not have worked with before.

Upcoming dates:

  • Monday, July 8
